Online Sports Betting

The only thing equally as thrilling and nail-biting as an exciting sporting event is betting on a sporting event! Online betting sites allow Indians to bet on their favourite sports in a great variety of ways.

Want to be on every over of an IPL match? Cricket betting sites have you covered. Looking for Pro Kabbadi or the latest European football? The best online betting platforms in India have great odds on numerous markets.

But what is the meaning of sports betting and how many ways can you bet on a sport? At Nodepositcasinobonuses.in , we deep dive into the important avenues of sports betting including bet types and odds, while providing insights into how you can find the best online betting site in India.

Sports online betting is quite easy to define. It is a real money wager on the outcome of any market relating to a sporting event. It could be a wager on the winner of an IPL match, the top goal scorer in the UEFA Cup final, or which player will net the most tackles in the Pro Kabaddi league.

Online betting benefits from a vast range of markets that allow punters to wager on multiple facets of a game – not just who is going to win. For online IPL betting, for example, you can bet on anything from the outcome of the coin toss to whether the last ball of the match will be a boundary.

📗 Common Online Betting Terms

Just like any sport that you enjoy online betting on, there are terms that are unique and might be difficult to understand by the uninitiated. Only cricket punters would understand that a wicket could mean either the stumps, the pitch, or the fall of a batsman. Betting is no different.

To help new punters get the hang of some of the terms they’ll hear at the best Indian bookmakers, here are the most common online betting terms.

Wager – Another word for a bet. Some online betting sites prefer to use the wager instead of bet. To place a wager is to bet on a market within a chosen event.

Cash Out – Many online betting sites in India offer the cash-out feature. This is the ability to close a bet early before the event closes. The bookie will offer a payout based on the current stage of that market. For example, if a team you bet on is close to winning, the bookie will offer you a slightly less payout as a cash-out. You could choose to take the payout just in case the team ends up losing.

Parlay – Another word for an accumulator bet which is a bet slip with multiple events. We explain this further in bet types.

Outright – Also known as futures betting, this is a bet on the eventual winner of an entire competition rather than a single match. For example, betting on who will win the IPL league or the ICC World Cup.

📉 Odds

When it comes to sports betting, nothing is more important than the odds. The odds determine identity market sentiment on who the favourite is and provide the calculation of how much you can win betting on a particular market. Odds can be displayed in a variety of ways, most commonly Moneyline, decimal, and fractional, but there are a few others.

Decimal – Decimal odds are among the most popular odds in the world. Displayed as a decimal, these odds represent how much could be won for betting ₹1. For example, odds of 3.50 would mean a ₹1 would receive a payout of ₹3.40 – a total profit of ₹2.40. Essentially, you just multiply your bet amount by the odds – a ₹1000 bet on odds of 2.90 would be a total payout of ₹2,900.

Fractional – Fractional odds are how you’ll typically see payouts written for casino games. For example, 2/1 or 11/2. This odds type represents how much you would win from a specific bet amount – so 2/1 is ₹2 for every ₹1 while 11/2 would be ₹11 for every ₹2. A ₹100 wager on odds of 10/1 would see a total return of ₹1,000 – ₹900 profit.

Moneyline – Almost exclusively used in countries like the US and Canada, we wouldn’t recommend following this rather confusing odds type. Moneyline represents how much you would win betting ₹100 or how much you would need to bet to win ₹100 – confusing, right? Odds are depicted as +100 and -100 depending on whether you are betting on the favourite or the underdog. For example, a ₹100 bet on +400 would see a payout of ₹500. However, at -400 on the favourite, you would need to bet ₹700 to win ₹800 and get that ₹100 profit.

Bet Types

Straight bets are your standard wager and cover most of the betting you will enjoy at online betting sites in India. Placing a single bet on any market is a standard or straight bet. Just make a selection, nominate a bet amount, and confirm the wager – it’s just that simple!

However, there is more than one way to place a bet online. To make things more interesting, try one of these exciting bet types below.

Accumulator

An accumulator, or Acca, is a single bet that is made up of multiple bets. The wagers must be on different events and each leg of the Acca must win for the bet to be a winner. For example, a simple accumulate bet could be a bet on the winner of three different IPL matches. If two of the teams you bet on win, but the other loses, then you’ll lose your bet. However, if all three win their matches, you’ll win the accumulator bet.

So, what’s the point of this bet type? The odds of each leg of an accumulator multiply the overall odds of your bet. This means you can dramatically increase your payout compared to betting on multiple events separately. The risk is that all the legs must win.

Handicap Betting

Handicap betting is a unique way to turn a profit when betting on events where the odds aren’t valuable. In a nutshell, it is giving a team a point advantage or disadvantage in order to even the odds. Handicap betting occurs in points-based sports such as cricket, football, tennis, and kabaddi. It is most common in football betting.

For example, in football handicapping, a strong favourite can have a two-goal handicap forced upon them which will mean they need two goals to win the bet. However, if you back the underdog with the same handicap, they will merely need to not lose by two goals for you to win the bet.

Handicap Betting Types

There are two main types of handicap betting at online betting sites in India. They are rather similar but one key difference can certainly make a difference in often drawn/tied sports like football. We identify the two types below before you head to your favourite bookmakers.

  • European Handicap – This is where a complete number of goals or points is added or deducted from a team or player, commonly referred to as a 3-way handicap or single handicap. It’s utilised to make up for a disparity in strength between two teams. It should be written as +1, +2, +3 or -1, -2, 3, etc. Applying a -1 handicap would be detrimental to the favourite, as it would require them to score at least two goals more than their opponent in order to win.
  • Asian Handicap – The most common handicap type and a favourite among football handicappers. There is one significant distinction between Asian handicapping and European handicapping. That is, the handicap is always an integer – as in 1.5, 2.5, etc. – indicating that this bet type is designed to eliminate the possibility of a tie. As a result, draws might result in a push or even a win of your bet.

System Betting

System betting burrows from the accumulator concept in that it involves multi-leg betting. The system aims to reduce risk by covering as many outcomes as possible so that there is little chance of not turning a profit. System betting doesn’t aim to win large amounts of money but looks to earn consistent profits through strategic bet placement.

Let’s take a look at a 2/3 system bet in which you would place 3 two-leg accumulators – or doubles –based on 3 different events.

For example, in the premier league you could try the following:

  • Bet 1: Liverpool to win (2.0) and Man City to win (2.1)
  • Bet 2: Liverpool (2.0) and West Ham to win (1.9)
  • Bet 3: Man City to win (2.1) and West Ham to win (1.9)

Now imagine that Liverpool and Man City win, but West Ham plays out a draw.

  • Bet 1: Wins
  • Bet 2: Loss
  • Bet 3: Loss

If you wagered ₹100 on each bet, you would have a total wager of ₹300. Bet 1 payouts out ₹420 which would be ₹120 in profit despite the other two losing bets.

Popular System Betting Types

While there are so many unique ways to try and hedge your bets or cover multiple angles, some systems have proven to be far more popular than others. Below, we identify 5 of the biggest and best system betting strategies for online sports betting.

  • Double – this is the most straightforward system bet. A double is essentially a bet that combines two individual selections into one wager. To witness a comeback, both must win. For example, a bet on the Mumbai Indians to win and a second wager on India to win a ODI match.
  • Treble – When put as a 2/3 bet, this is a combination of three single bets on three different events, with only two winners required to win the bet.
  • Patent – consists of seven bets on three separate events. You’re essentially trying to cover all conceivable outcomes and make money even if only one leg succeeds.
  • Trixie – this is a four-bet betting method that is considered one of the easiest to win. The Trixie consists of four bets: a treble and three doubles from three different events. You could try an each-way Trixie on horse racing to obtain a win on a horse that isn’t always the winner.
  • Yankee – The Yankee system bet is made up of 11 different combinations based on four different occurrences. A Yankee bet consists of six doubles, four trebles, and one four-leg accumulator bet. Because the system bet is made up of multiple bet types, you can still win even if one of them fails and the others succeed.

🟢 Live Betting

Also referred to as in-play betting, this form of betting involves placing wagers on a sporting event while the match is still being played. Regular betting is pre-match – where you bet on the event before it happens – but with live betting, the odds change dynamically as the match plays out.

  • For example, if the Kolkata Knight Riders are favourites in a match against the Mumbai Indians, but they lose 3 quick wickets, their odds to win will go up and the Mumbai Indian’s odds will decrease as they become the favourites.

online live betting on sports

Live betting can occur on more than just basic winner markets and can often extend to handicap markets too. This means you can bet on every minute of the game with live markets such as runs of the over, top batsman, next wicket, and more.

Many sports betting sites in India offer tools for live betting such as live streaming, virtual scoreboards, and multiple screens to wager on several events simultaneously. We recommend bet365 for cricket live streaming and MELbet for the Multi-VIEW in-play platform with multiple in-play windows.

📱Online Betting Apps

You don’t need to stay home and jump online to bet on your favourite sports like cricket, kabaddi, or football. The best online betting sites in India also provide advanced and powerful betting appsAvailable on both Android and iOS devices, online betting apps can be used to make your deposits and withdrawals, place wagers of every available type, and follow the scores in your favourite matches.
